Everything to Know About Platelet-Rich Plasma
Are you struggling with torn ligaments, tendons and muscles, damaged joints, and other injuries? Or maybe you want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles? With HYDRO Infusions’ PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) services, you can do both and more! Here’s everything you need to know about Platelet-Rich Plasma!
What is PRP?
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a mixture of plasma growth proteins and platelets removed from your blood through a centrifuge. Platelets help stimulate the normal wound healing process due to the growth factors contained within. With PRP, HYDRO Infusions create a supra-therapeutic level of your platelets. This solution contains over 500% more platelets than normal blood, allowing a heightened healing process of tissue. We then inject it back into the injured area or skin to increase healing time or promote collagen production.
Types of Collecting
The two most common methods of collecting PRP include spinning with or without a get separator:
Spinning without gel separator
Spinning blood at a high rate of speed for some time, the cellular blood components will separate within the container/tube according to their density. These distinct cell layers can be seen upon removal of the device, and include the plasma layer, platelet buffy coat layer, and the red blood cell layer. You can collect the plasma and buffy coats and inject it or spin the suspension a second time for a higher platelet concentration.Spinning with gel separator
Typically used for isolating serum or plasma, gel separators offer a physical gradient for blood to pass through, resulting in the final product at the top of the tubes. Unfortunately, most products available that use gel separators end up producing a low concentration of platelets (due to the small volume of blood being used) and a poor capture of platelets in the final product. Other issues include a higher rate of red blood cell retention, not customizable based on the patient’s needs, longer preparation times, and a higher rate of manual error.
How Do We Collect It?
HYDRO Infusions decided to use CAREPRP™, which is a breakthrough design for optimal PRP separation. Using an hourglass-shaped tube and WorldPRP-based technology, we produce high-quality PRP in a short amount of time while protecting the platelets. Offering an adjustable volume and platelet concentration, this gel and plunger-free option is cost-effective and only needs 3 minutes in the centrifuge. Customizable to every patient’s needs, we offer a platelet recovery rate of up to 90% and allow for varying concentrations (ranging from 1.8x to 16x).
Who Is This Ideal For?
PRP injections are perfect for many people. Whether you’re suffering from chronic musculoskeletal injuries, such as tendons or joints, or you want to reduce wrinkles and fine lines in your face, platelet-rich plasma treatments are a good option. There are a variety of health benefits from PRP.
Benefits of PRP
PRP treatment is used for a range of conditions. Thanks to the richness of key growth factors available in the injections, it promotes collagen production and angiogenesis. It also has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory components, encouraging healing while preventing further degeneration. The autologous solution (your blood) ensures low to no risk of rejection, making it a great option for boosting natural restoration processes.
Med Spa PRP
Platelet-rich plasma can decrease fine lines and wrinkles in various parts of the face, including around the mouth, eyes, frown lines, and forehead, by promoting collagen production and stimulating blood flow. This can be furthered by combining PRP with HYDRO Infusions’ microneedling, The SaltFacial, and Jet Plasma services.
With microneedling, applying PRP to your skin after treatment allows it to penetrate the holes created by the microneedling and enhance elastin production and collagen in deeper skin levels. This effectively treats surgical scars, fine lines, sun damage, acne scars, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. The treatment is also beneficial for those who do not suffer from any of these conditions, as combining microneedling and PRP can better your skin’s overall texture, tone, and appearance.
For The SaltFacial, after detoxing and resurfacing your skin with pure, organic sea salt, we use ultrasound technology to increase circulation and nourish your skin. By combining this with topical treatments like stem cells, PRP, and growth factors, we enhance your results and replenish antioxidants and vital nutrients.
Functional Medicine PRP
Along with helping your skin, platelet-rich plasma is a great choice for chronic musculoskeletal injuries. Delivering an optimal concentration of growth factors to an area of injury, PRP injections stimulate healing while avoiding further degeneration. It achieves this by stimulating the inflammatory process, which in turn starts the natural healing process. PRP injections are great for multiple injuries, including acute and osteoarthritis knee injuries, shoulder injuries (acute and chronic), elbow tendonitis (Tennis or Golfer’s elbow), and acute muscle and ligament injuries. Thanks to the multitude of growth factors available in the injections, PRP helps decrease tissue deterioration and pain/swelling, regenerate cartilage, build strength, and increase flexibility, range of motion, and post-surgical recovery.
When undergoing PRP injections with HYDRO Infusions, treatment usually includes 2 or more injections, separated by 4-6 weeks apart. This can vary based on your injury. Full recovery with PRP can range from 4-6 months, depending on multiple factors. If this is for tendons, your injury may take 3 months to respond to PRP, as tendons have a rather poor blood supply which in turn causes a prolonged healing period.
Our platelet-rich plasma services offer a way to treat multiple problems naturally, using a concentrated amount of your platelets and plasma. If you’re interested and think you can benefit, don’t hesitate to reach out to HYDRO Infusions. We’ll evaluate your needs and create a plan that meets your needs.
