The Science Behind Body Sculpting

HYDRO Infusions’ truSculpt iD and truSculpt flex are great non-invasive options to break down fat and build muscles. They help you achieve the body of your dreams. But we’re often asked how these services work, and what’s the science behind them. To answer these questions, here’s everything you need to know about the science behind body sculpting.

Science of truSculpt iD

What is truSculpt iD?

Before we go into the science, we wanted to explain what exactly truSculpt iD is. A non-invasive, monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device, it removes fat cells from a patient’s water content. This is done by an electric current flowing between a single electrode and grounding point. Able to access the layers of fat without damaging the skin, it is a great way to non-invasively contour your body.

How it Works

The truSculpt iD device has up to six RF handpieces that connect to both the console and adhesive return pads. When the treatment starts, an electric current moves from the console to the adhesive return pads through the handpieces before being returned to the console. The handpieces heat up to ensure skin surface temperature remains between 43 degrees Celsius and 44 degrees Celsius to allow for deep heating of the tissue without damaging the epidermis.

This temperature inversion effect is crucial for adipocyte apoptosis, which is naturally occurring cell death. By combining both the heat and electric current, truSculpt iD reaches your fat bulges and pockets and causes apoptosis. Due to this deep volumetric heating of the tissue, your epidermis and dermis skin layers are left untouched while the fat cells die off. Apoptosis occurs immediately after treatment, ensuring results happen quickly

Science of truSculpt flex

What is truSculpt flex?

truSculpt flex works to contour muscles and improve muscle tone using electrical stimulation. The device’s Multi-Directional Stimulation (MDS) targets specific muscle groups and has three treatment modes (prep, tone, or sculpt) chosen based on your initial consultation. The stimulation causes the muscles to contract and build muscle mass as a result. truSculpt flex is excellent for people looking for fast and easy results.

How it Works

The truSculpt flex device is based on electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), which is the cause of muscle contractions by electric impulses. A bio-electric current stimulation device, the sixteen handpieces are placed on the body for simultaneous treatment of up to eight areas. Delivering equal distribution of electrical current directly into the targeted muscles, your motor nerves depolarize and cause your muscles to contract. The goal is to replicate the process a brain goes through when lifting weights.

During treatment, your muscle fibers undergo trauma and microscopic tears. To repair the damage, your body undergoes hypertrophy. Hypertrophy occurs after each treatment and releases hormones, like testosterone, to repair muscle fibers, activate cell recovery, and form new blood capillaries. The result is muscles increasing in size and strength. By undergoing multiple treatments, the muscles will gradually bulk up.

Recap

truSculpt iD and truSculpt flex are non-invasive and FDA-approved treatments for fat loss and muscle contouring.
